how much shall I offer to settle early

July 5th, 2007 by midspb

Hi.  I have been paying into my IVA for 19 months.  My total owed was £54K and I have paid in £16K.  Shall I offer to pay in the remainder exactly, of what is owed, or should I offer slightly less.  I am getting this money from a friend, so I don’t want to offer too much if it’s not necessary.  My home has a mortgage of 95% on it, and although it’s mentioned in the IVA as being available for revaluing at the end of year 4, it’s already down slightly in value from when I bought it 24 months ago (it’s a new flat, and there’s been so much building in the area, the values of properties has dipped very slightly - I probably overpaid slightly anyway, which was a shame).  So, all in all there won’t be anything to remortgage in 2 1/2 years.  So, what should I offer do you think?  Many thanks.
